Since April 2011, we have established the research framework and collected 63 plant species. Using three extraction methods—aqueous extraction, steam distillation, and ethanol extraction—we obtained a total of 189 distinct extracts. These extracts, prepared at concentrations of up to 1000 mg/ml, were evaluated against more than 300 bacterial and fungal strains.
PEPP is designed by Plant Biotechnologies using natural plant extracts to protect plant from bacterial, fungal without using antibiotics. Even though Plant Biotechnologies has done many research in antibiotics, our Contract Research division has done extensive research on finding new pharmaceutical compounds from plant extract. Extensive research has been done on using the natural plant extract as antimicrobial agents by pharmaceutical industries. The cosmetic industry also has many successful examples because plant extract generally has low toxicities to mammalian cells. It seems most natural to put the plant extract back to protect the plants.
Plant Biotechnologies scientists have found over the past three years that many plant extracts (PEPP ingredients) have lethal killing effects to the bacteria and fungi but not obviously inhibit the growth of the plants. Several other ingredients have both inhibiting the bacterial and fungal are good for plant growth. Plant takes these extracts as nutrient. The dosage we have tested for two of the key ingredients up to 6,000mg/Liter of media. But the killing of the most plant pathogen is less than 64mg/liter.
Plant Biotechnologies carefully balanced the lethal extracts with the inhibition extracts to make sure the bacterial or fungal is completely eliminated from plant.
Another reason Plant Biotechnologies develops PEPP is that bacterial and fungal have developed resistant to the antibiotics which have been used for plant protection.
Selection:
• 24 extracts (8 plants) are effective under 1000 mg/ml against over 80% of the bacterial or fungal.
• 8 Essential oil by steam extraction have more consistent results than water and Ethanol extract before and after autoclaving. • •Out of 256 combinations, 30 combinations of the 6 essential oil are able to control all bacterial and fungal under 200 mg/ml. • • 4 combinations has very low toxicity to plant tissues.
We tested in 1 – 5 liter of media for the above plant.
1). Larger scale test
2). Uniform test
3). New plant tissue
