Nitrate was required at a concentration of 20–30 mM for optimal growth. The addition of 2 mM ammonium sulfate enhanced cell growth; however, when supplied as the sole nitrogen source, NH₄⁺ alone failed to support proliferation. Similar outcomes were observed when NH₄NO₃ was used in place of (NH₄)₂SO₄. Notably, ammonium ions suppressed growth at concentrations exceeding 2 mM. Variations in phosphate, calcium, and magnesium levels induced only relatively minor changes in the growth rate. Thiamine, an essential nutrient, was found to improve cell growth at concentrations up to 10 mg/L.
