Bialaphos Sodium

Description

Bialaphos sodium is a tripeptide antibiotic herbicide composed of phosphinothricin (PPT) and two alanine residues. It acts as a potent inhibitor of glutamine synthetase, leading to the accumulation of ammonia and disruption of amino acid metabolism in susceptible plants. In plant biotechnology, bialaphos sodium is widely used as a selective agent for transgenic plants carrying the bar or pat resistance genes, providing reliable selection during transformation and regeneration processes.
