Amoxicillin trihydrate is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic belonging to the aminopenicillin group. It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, making it effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. In plant tissue culture, amoxicillin is used to reduce or eliminate bacterial contamination while exhibiting relatively low phytotoxicity to plant cells.
